Running Stitch - Atmospheres, recollections and narratives in textiles:

The exhibition combines the new fabric language of Claire Cawte, the exploration of emotion and memory in stitch by Ruth Harries and the curious trinkets and tableaux from the secret treasure trove of Becky Adams.
Running Stitch offers an opportunity to explore a diversity of techniques and processes and celebrates the wealth of talent working within contemporary textiles in Wales
Becky Adams Becky is a collector of stories; they become an integral part of her life and are ingrained into the making of her work through a sophisicated use of stitch, vintage fabric and antique ephemera. There is a subtle and respectful glance to the study of the human condition; each piece is aware of its past, its present and its untold future. Through the natural language of her work, each piece becomes an embodiment of a story preserved within each careful stitch.
Claire Cawte Claire Cawte's work has an affinity to the natural environment, suggesting calm and tranquil inspiration. She has always identified with the gifts of nature, choosing to use solely plant dyes and for this latest range of work, British Fleece. Derived from the world of organic form and growth Claire Cawte's work is free flowing, linking the layers of nature and our inner selves. Material combinations and manipulation present a refined quality relating to something extra special, in the natural world and our inner selves.
Ruth Harries There are figurative and abstract elements to Ruth Harries' work, which re-present emotionally charged atmospheres and recollections within the family. She strives to convey emotions triggered by memories.
Ruth Harries reflects on a house; a place of birth and death,and the subtle and intimate traces of life within it, a reflection on the transience of being and our right of passage.

| Transfigurations - Conceptual imagery in ceramic by Natalia Dias |

Natalia Dias is a ceramic artist bridging the gap between craft and fine art through concept, process and use of materials. She won the Gold Medal for Craft and Design at the 2010 National Eisteddfod of Wales and often pairs wood, resin, gold and other mediums with ceramic to enhance the "story" and concept being told.
Her practice focuses on the human condition, nature, love, life and death. She conveys her narrative vision through installations which create a resonant, sublime and poetic feeling in the viewer while taking them on a darker voyage.
“I intend to express the brittle transience of life and its humble beauty. The pure fact of matter from the minute to the infinite and its eternal ephemera.”
Natalia Dias was born in Portugal and graduated in 2009 with a 1st Class Hons Degree in Ceramics from Cardiff School of Art and Design. As well as her Gold Medal for Craft and Design she won 1st prize for ceramic and glass in the 2007 Welcome Trust competition Design4Science, has had work purchased by the Aberystwyth University Ceramic Collection, work published in the international Lark Books 2009 edition “500 Ceramic Sculptures”, two solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions all over the UK.

Yn ogystal â’i Medal Aur am Grefft a Dylunio enillodd wobr gyntaf am waith serameg a gwydr yng nghystadleuaeth Design4Science Ymddiriedolaeth Welcome yn 2007, prynwyd peth o’i gwaith gan Gasgliad Serameg Prifysgol Aberystwyth, cyhoeddwyd ei gwaith yn rhifyn 2009 o’r Lark Books rhyngwladol – “500 Ceramic Sculptures”, a chynhaliodd dwy arddangosfa ar ei phen ei hun a bu’n rhan o nifer o arddangosfeydd grŵp trwy’r DU. |

Kathryn Roberts MA (RCA) has been a glassmaker for 16 years. She runs her own business, the Gate Gallery & Glassworks housed in a stunning 18th Century riverside property in Brecon.
A true traditional artisan, Kathryn lives above her gallery and creates her own work in the basement workshop. Inspiration comes from the material itself - hot glass is so magical and alive. Fluid forms are enhanced with a vast palette of colour. Nature and natural forms with underlying asymmetry and balance are dominant themes.
Mae Kathryn Roberts MA (RCA) wedi bod yn gwneuthuro gwydr ers un mlynedd ar bymtheg. Mae’n rhedeg ei busnes ei hun, The Gate Gallery & Glassworks, mewn adeilad trawiadol o’r 18ed ganrif ar lan yr afon yn Aberhonddu.

Some people collect and squirrel away everything, others carefully select objects which are charged with special meaning, and then some people pick up what others throw away. Our lives are narrated through the objects with which we surround ourselves.
Drawing inspiration from this Lindsey creates jewellery by combining printed anodised aluminium with silver, semi-precious stones and many colourful objet trouvé. Juxtaposing found and altered objects with hand-printed highly patterned anodised aluminium and simple mechanical movements Lindsey hopes to create something, which has both familiar and yet foreign associations, perhaps triggering a vague memory for the viewer and hopefully making them smile! Lindsey is based in Hampshire.

Bethan Ash creates art quilts due to a deep respect and love for their history. For her, they are a vehicle for personal expression, they are tactile evidence that we were here and have left something of value 'as a mirror of ourselves and our accomplishments'.
While acknowledging the roots of utilitarian beauty in her work, Bethan feels compelled to go beyond the boundaries of traditional design. A central theme within her work is an exploration of the balance between traditional and contemporary forms.

Curated by Cardiff based maker Laura Thomas, this exhibition presents significant work from six contemporary applied artists exploring colour in an intelligent and sensitive manner that resonates to the core.
Resonant Colour is the first in a Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre initiative “Makers to Curators” and has been supported by the Arts Council of Wales.

Through this series of watercolour paintings, I aim to depart from the traditional perspectives of landscape painting, i.e. foreground, middle-ground, background. Walking through the natural landscape, I find myself not looking in one direction but in many, constantly absorbing shape, texture, colour and light (the organic make-up of the landscape). Rather than portraying a snap-shot scene that could be attributed to a specific time and place, I have chosen to focus in on aspects of the landscape, particularly things that have caught my eye, such as the rushing water of a stream, the pockets of colour in a rock pool, or the labyrinth of woodland undergrowth. These mini-landscapes, or microcosms, naturally become abstracted though the process of magnification, and so are largely dependent on an emotive use of colour and line to portray a felt or experienced landscape. |

‘I spent last summer picking up junk that I found, or being a “turnupstuffer” as Pippi Longstocking puts it. I’m interested in trying to make use of everything that surrounds me, so that nothing should go to waste. The objects I found became the inspiration for this jewellery, as well as traditional craft techniques that make use of scraps of fabric, for example, patchwork and rag rug making. All the fabrics that have been used are either second hand, from remnant bins or friend’s scraps and leftovers.’Anna is based in Glasgow.

| Resilience |

Resilience is the result of a collaborative project between LGAC and The Big Fuss. Both believe in the importance of giving artists the opportunity to exhibit, whether they are just graduating or have long standing careers. Resilience was selected from an open submission and presents established artists alongside emerging talent. Resilience reflects the current ‘about the art’ attitude, whilst generating a sense of community, unity and support amongst the arts.
Mae ‘Resilience’ yn ffrwyth prosiect cydweithrediadol rhwng CCLlG a The Big Fuss. Mae’r ddau sefydliad yma’n credu ym mhwysigrwydd rhoi cyfle i artistiaid arddangos, waeth os ydynt newydd raddio neu os oes ganddynt yrfa hirsefydlog. Cafodd ‘Resilience’ ei ddethol o gyflwyniadau agored ac mae’n cynnwys artistiaid sefydlog ynghyd â doniau newydd. My Life in Textiles: 4 Decades of Classic Knitwear Design

Sasha Kagan has been designing and making knitwear to huge critical acclaim since the 1960’s and is well known for her use of colour, Pattern and texture in hand-knitted women’s wear. This exhibition will feature classic designs and garments and figurative patterns; the Country Inspiration collection shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum (2000) and new work produced from both Welsh wool and Rowan’s new range of recycled yarn.

Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre is investigating what compels makers to collect found objects and elevate them as works of art. This exhibition includes one off accessories, jewellery and found objects that have been reinterpreted and given new life and new meaning; providing a contradiction between manufactured objects that are transformed and revealed as unique works of art.

Sarah Weiss was taught the traditional art of bead-weaving twenty years ago in California. Her use of the age-old Native American flat peyote stitch remains visible beneath the clusters and colours. She appreciates the wonder and simplicity of this beautiful ancient craft, combining it with a contemporary vision to create elegant, stylish designs. The technique produces a mesh-like fabric of beads. Her pieces incorporate quartz crystals, a myriad of semi-precious stones, and ethically-sourced porcupine quills along with gold, glass and sterling silver beads. “I like to think of my pieces as wearable works of art, a soft suit of armour, delicate woven web-like body adornment.”
Sarah Weiss is based in Bristol.

Emma-Kate moved to Wales in 2008 and opened a beautiful studio and gallery in Cardiff. She creates unique, handmade pieces using silver, gold, platinum, diamonds, semi-precious stones and pearls. She has won the 2009 Gold award for best jewellery in Craft & Design Magazine Awards and recently commissioned by the Victoria & Albert Museum to design a range of homeware.

Kathryn produces one-off pieces of jewellery influenced by her background in ceramics & printed textiles. By combining these skills she explores surface pattern and ornamentation using a range of processes and materials. Her work include the combination of natural and hand dyed screen-printed silks, hand engraved slip cast bone china, decorative applications of pattern to silver and metals in unconventional ways. This enables the creation of jewellery pieces that are extremely unique and which can be considered pieces of art within their own right. Kathryn is currently Artist in Residence at the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University.

Becky Adams is a collector of stories; they become an integral part of her life and are ingrained into the making of her work through a sophisticated use of stitch, vintage fabric and antique ephemera. There is a subtle and respectful glance to the study of the human condition; each piece is aware of its past, its present and its untold future. Through the natural language of her work, each piece becomes an embodiment of a story preserved within each careful stitch.

Found object, drawing and video installation
Virginia Head’s delicately drawn interventions on surfaces mottled with time require close inspection, alluding to the scientific investigations of rare specimens under magnification. Animations are alchemical fusions of the real and imagined, utilising a range of techniques to give life to her creations. Drawings depict the grotesque and the sinister, stripping away notions of beauty to expose the macabre cruelty of the natural world.

Maria Whetman is based in West Devon , working under the name Fluxplay Jewellery ; "flux n. flow; continuous succession of changes; substance mixed with metal etc. to assist fusion. play v. occupy oneself in activity, operation; free movement". Having always admired the designs and colours of printed steel packaging (biscuit tins, tea caddy’s, olive oil cans, etc) she now presses these into ‘cabochon’ forms and combines them with patterned silver, rubber cord, found objects, mixed materials or semi-precious stones. Creating jewellery full of colour, humour and individuality.
The printed steel packaging she uses is what is usually refered to as ‘tin’ but is no longer really so, as lead has not been used in the making of the material for many decades. She uses just a fragment in each piece of jewellery, selecting an area of the design which not only looks great as a miniature composition of text, colour and pattern, but is unrecognisable from its original form. The printed steel is obtained by scouring jumble-sales, charity shops, delicatessens, and also donated by friends – an excellent reason for recycling!

Gan greu gemwaith unigryw sy’n llawn lliw a hiwmor.
Fel arfer gelwir y pecynnau dur printiedig y bydd yn ei ddefnyddio’n ‘tun’ ond ’dyw e ddim mewn gwirionedd bellach gan nad oes plwm wedi ei ddefnyddio yng ngwneuthuriad y deunydd yma ers blynyddoedd lawer. Bydd yn defnyddio ond tamaid bychan ym mhob darn o emwaith, gan ddethol rhan o’r cynllun sydd nid yn unig yn edrych yn wych fel gwaith miniatur unigryw o destun, lliw a phatrwm, ond sydd hefyd yn amhosibl ei adnabod o’i ffurf gwreiddiol. Bydd yn casglu’r dur printiedig trwy chwilota mewn ffeiriau sborion, siopau elusennau, delicatessens, yn ogystal â derbyn rhoddion gan ffrindiau – rheswm gwych i ailgylchu! |

For their latest body of work, members of the dynamic textile group, MaP, have drawn on the rich Roman heritage of Gwent.
Using artefacts from Caerleon's Legionary Museum as inspiration, each member has produced original artwork incorporating textile techniques as diverse as printing, felt making, embroidery, plant dyeing and pigment experimentation.

| Wedding Stories |

Wedding Stories is an exhibition by Cardiff based American ceramicist Lisa Krigel, interpreting the visual iconography of wedding traditions from around the world. Wedding Stories began with a range of white porcelain ware; teapots, cake stands, cups and saucers, textured with lace and doilies, delicately balanced to form a modern allegory for the precarious excesses of the ‘White Wedding’.
The creation of the eclectic range of work in Wedding Stories has been the result of Lisa’s investigation into wedding practices and customs from different cultures and ages.

Embodiment is a Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre curated exhibition of six makers who use textiles and stitch to create fascinating interpretations of the human form. Looking at the way thread can transform from a drawing tool to a medium able to say something about the person being represented.
The human form has fascinated artists for generations, and by combining established makers such as Audrey Walker with the contemporary talent of makers such as Claire Coles, Embodiment gives the viewer an opportunity to see how this has been translated in 21st Century textiles.
Mae ‘Embodiment’ yn arddangosfa sydd wedi’i churadu gan Ganolfan y Celfyddydau Llantarnam Grange o chwe gwneuthurwr sy’n defnyddio tecstilau a phwytho i greu dehongliadau hudol o’r ffurf ddynol. Edrych ar y ffordd gall edau drawsffurfio o offeryn dylunio i gyfrwng sy’n gallu dweud rhywbeth am y person sy’n cael ei gynrychioli.

Leaving behind the mundane and the everyday, ‘Once upon a time…’ is a Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre curated exhibition that recounts a world that can only be explored once the threshold of the imagination has been crossed. The exhibition, held in the intimate environment of Gallery 3, will allow the viewer to discover a personal and unique perspective of the work that is being displayed.
Whilst the work of the chosen makers is strikingly beautiful, there is more than simple whimsy at play within the exhibition. Each maker has been chosen for their understanding of cherished belongings, proficient expertise and sensitivity towards material; with the juxtaposition of vintage and contemporary inspired materials being an essential element.
Gan adael bywyd bydol bob dydd, mae ‘Once upon a time…’ yn arddangosfa sydd wedi’i churadu gan Ganolfan y Celfyddydau Llantarnam Grange ac yn adrodd yr hanes am fyd all ond gael ei archwilio unwaith mae trothwy’r dychymyg wedi’i groesi. Originally from Snowdonia, North Wales, but now living in London, Buddug Humphreys makes illustrative enamel jewellery of dainty teapot shapes and precious quotes. As a designer she explores the importance that jewellery holds throughout history as a gift, a token of love. She makes pieces that reflect her inspiration and love of different cultures as well as her own Welsh historic and literary background and family memories.

Art is a dynamic and innovative field of activity and study; Portal Series: 09 explores this and presents an exhibition of recent graduates who have fearlessly stretched the boundary where applied art meets fine art. Resisting categorisation, a visual communication is explored that challenges the critical debate where distinguishing boundaries are neither settled nor sealed.
Portal Series: is a new initiative by Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre to help recent graduates establish themselves as art practitioners. In addition to exhibiting, the artists will be offered the opportunity to talk to art professionals about their work, and will be given guidance on the skills required to develop their exhibiting career.

Ashfield College has taken the opportunity to introduce and explore the Welsh traditions with its students, who are currently residing in Bristol.
This has given the students of Welsh origin a chance to reconnect with their original Welsh culture; at the same time this has given them a different perspective and maybe a different outlook on their life prior to the time spent at HMP & YOI Ashfield.
The basis of this exhibition is a reinterpretation of a series of paintings by well known artists born or currently living in Wales, accompanied by a written account of what the original picture means to the students'.
All Artwork is made by the students of, HMP & YOI Ashfield, Bristol. Ashfield has accommodation for 360 male juvenile offenders (15-18 years old).

Emily Burnett and Gracie Hinitt are recent graduates from Hereford College of Arts.Emily’s work is inspired by the colours and patterns of textiles worn in African tribes. Emily works in sterling silver and applies accents of vitreous coloured enamels. This combination creates both movement and sound to her unique wearable pieces.Gracie’s work is influenced by the architecture of New York. Gracie creates wearable and individual pieces of silver jewellery. The surfaces are etched with acid to create eroded textures and the use of gold leaf serves as a bright contrast. To mark the 60th anniversary of Cwmbran New Town.
Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre has commissioned Cwmbran born photographer, Mark Saunders to create an archive of images that reflect his interpretation of Cwmbran at this significant moment in time. Mark has developed the (re)generation project into two distinct strands of work.
The Place: Mark Saunders’ images of the town are his response to an opportunity to explore and investigate with fresh eyes, what for him had become utterly familiar. Mark was struck with the “modernity” of the built environment together with an often unusual, sometimes even surreal juxtaposition. Festival of Britain style offices in close proximity to 1970’s urban developments for example. This is unique to Cwmbran in that the built environment unlike other towns has been condensed into a sixty year period. In many ways this town and these images could be any new town or new urban development in Britain, yet at the same time Cwmbran is a unique place populated by a unique group of people.
The People: Mark Saunders has lived in Cwmbran for the best part of forty years. Like many others he is part of the first generation born and /or educated in Cwmbran whose parents moved to the new town as incomers in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s. In many ways this generation can be seen as part of that great social experiment initiated by the post war Labour Government who created the new towns. It is this group, the first generation of people born in Cwmbran, who are represented by the 60 portraits that make up (re)generation. These children were born to incomers, many of whom had few natural links to the area and therefore to this new community. This is a generation who were thrown together by happenstance. Mark Saunders was interested to see how these people (of which he is one), have faired as they and the town grew. Mark Saunders has produced a series of images that fix this unique generation in time sixty years after the inception of the new town.

Y Lle: delweddau Mark Saunders o’r dref yw ei ymateb ef i’r cyfle i chwilota ac archwilio â llygaid ffres yr hyn oedd, iddo fe, wedi tyfu’n gwbl gyfarwydd. Trawyd Mark gan “fodernedd” yr amgylchedd adeiledig ynghyd â’r cyfosodiad, sy’n aml iawn yn anarferol ac sydd weithiau hyd yn oed yn swrrealaidd. Swyddfeydd yn arddull Gŵyl Prydain yn sefyll ochr yn ochr â datblygiadau trefol y 1970’au, er enghraifft. Mae hyn yn unigryw i Gwmbrân gan fod yr amgylchedd adeiledig, yn wahanol i drefi eraill, wedi ei gywasgu i gyfnod o drigain mlynedd. Mewn nifer o ffyrdd gallai’r dref hon a’r delweddau hyn fod yn unrhyw dref newydd neu’n unrhyw ddatblygiad trefol newydd ym Mhrydain, ond eto mae Cwmbrân yn le unigryw wedi ei boblogi â chasgliad unigryw o bobl.
Y Bobl: Mae Mark Saunders wedi byw yng Nghwmbrân ers bron i ddeugain mlynedd. Fel llawer o bobl eraill mae’n rhan o’r genhedlaeth gyntaf a aned a / neu a addysgwyd yng Nghwmbrân, wedi i’w rhieni symud i’r dref newydd fel mewnfudwyr yn y 1950’au, y 60’au a’r 70’au. Mewn nifer o ffyrdd, gellid ystyried y genhedlaeth hon fel rhan o’r arbrawf cymdeithasol pwysig hwnnw a ddechreuwyd gan y Llywodraeth Lafur ar ôl y rhyfel a greodd y trefi newydd. Y grŵp hwn, y genhedlaeth gyntaf o bobl a aned yng Nghwmbrân, gaiff eu cynrychioli yn y 60 portread sy’n ffurfio “(re)generation”. Ganed y plant hyn i fewnfudwyr, yr oedd llawer ohonynt â fawr ddim cysylltiadau naturiol â’r ardal ac felly â’r gymuned newydd hon. Dyma genhedlaeth a daflwyd ynghyd ar hap. Roedd Mark Saunders â diddordeb gweld sut y mae’r bobl yma (y mae e’n un ohonynt) wedi dod yn eu blaen wrth iddynt hwy a’r dref dyfu. Mae Mark Saunders wedi cynhyrchu cyfres o ddelweddau sy’n rhewi’r genhedlaeth unigryw yma mewn amser, drigain mlynedd wedi dechreuad y dref newydd.

Interaction is one of the most important aspects of Kaz’s work. She likes the wearer to play with the jewellery creating new pieces via magnets set in the resin. Ring tops can be swapped, bangles stick together, neckpieces interconnect. Colour is another essential element in her work, layering and patterning the resin to create diverse effects.
Rhyngweithiad yw un o’r elfennau pwysicaf yng ngwaith Kaz. Mae’n hoffi’r gwisgwr i chwarae gyda’r gemwaith a chreu darnau newydd drwy fagnetau wedi’u gosod yn y resin. | Iron Maidens |

‘Iron Maidens’ is an exhibition of cast iron sculpture by women artists from America and the United Kingdom. It is an important exhibition in the continuing development of professional women sculptors who break boundaries in their exploration of this medium. In 2010, the 6th International Conference of Contemporary Cast Iron Art will be taking place in Kidwelly, South Wales. There will be a number of exhibitions of cast iron work before and during this period; ‘Iron Maidens’ is one of them.
Mae ‘Iron Maidens’ yn arddangosfa o gerfluniau haearn bwrw gan artistiaid benywaidd o Brydain ac America. Mae’n arddangosfa bwysig yn natblygiad parhaus cerflunwragedd proffesiynol sy’n gwthio’r ffiniau trwy eu harchwiliadau o’r cyfrwng hwn. Yn 2010 cynhelir 6ed Cynhadledd Ryngwladol Celf Haearn Bwrw Cyfoes yng Nghydweli, De Cymru. Cynhelir nifer o arddangosfeydd o weithiau haearn bwrw cyn ac yn ystod y cyfnod hwn; ‘Iron Maidens’ yw un ohonynt.

Memory, superstitions, amulets and shrines inspire this jewellery installation. Anna is interested in the relationship between people and objects, and how they influence behaviour and belief through their material meanings. Anna interprets this interest both symbolically and visually by combining materials such as feathers, leather, wood and silver printed with delicate traces of memory.
Gosodwaith gemwaith wedi ei ysbrydoli gan atgofion, ofergoelion, amwledau a chysegrfannau. Diddordeb Anna yw’r berthynas rhwng pobl a gwrthrychau, a sut y maent yn dylanwadu ar ymddygiad a chred trwy eu hystyron materol. This exhibition shows a sensitive arrangement of domestic objects that hint towards archaeological finds. Anne is influenced by museum collections, intrigued by their historical, intimate and sensory qualities. Organising principles are major concerns: Anne produces intriguing ceramic objects embellished with pins and wire, and drawings on paper and fabric subverting the original purpose of the domestic.

Sarah White is a jewellery designer based in Newport. After formal training at Cordwainers College, London, Sarah worked for jeweller MOUNIR SROUJI as part of the design and production team.
Her current collection focuses on Sarah’s love of feminine, kitsch subject matters and showcases her broad range of techniques and disciplines.

| Barrett-Danes – A Continuing Tradition |

Working jointly and individually, Alan and Ruth Barrett-Danes made a major contribution to the development of studio ceramics in Britain. For the Barrett-Danes’, ceramics has been a tradition spanning six generations and dating back to the early 19th century. Over many decades Alan and Ruth Barrett-Danes had passed on their skills and enthusiasm to generations of students, to appreciative audiences and to their son Jonathan, whose work shows evidence of their influence while having a life and direction of its own. Alan’s experiences and training meant that he was uniquely positioned to play a key role in developments of studio ceramics in the later decades of the twentieth century. Whilst referencing the work from Upchurch Pottery this exhibition charts the ceramic work of Alan, Ruth and Jonathan Barrett-Danes from the 1950s to the present.

| Ffibr: Form & Fusion - Contemporary Fibre art from Wales |

‘Ffibr: form & fusion’ is an exhibition of six contemporary fibre artists selected by Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre. ‘Ffibr’ offers an opportunity to explore a diversity of techniques and celebrates the wealth of talent working in contemporary textiles in Wales. Represented artists are Bethan Ash, Claire Cawte, Ruth Harries, Ruth McLees, Alison Mercer and Laura Thomas. ‘Ffibr’ is a wonderful opportunity to see: the boundaries of weaving being pushed to create threads encapsulated in acrylic resin; expressive mark-making qualities reproduced in stitch; painted portraits on fabric and award winning contemporary quilting.

Sculpted Shadows

‘Sculpted Shadows’ highlights the work of six contemporary makers working in wire, each creating a three dimensional interpretation of drawing. Within the work, different techniques and approaches are explored: wire is wrapped, twisted, knotted, knitted, sculpted, coloured or textured.

Fireworks Clay Studios Artist in Residency Program
This exhibition is the result of a Fireworks/Philadelphia Clay Studios Residency opportunity awarded to ceramic artist Amy Santoferraro. Originating from Ohio, Amy investigates the experiences Wales offered, whilst continuing with her practice of exploring notions of taste and humour in commemorative memorabilia. The exhibition explores an exciting and unrestrained play with both Welsh and American imagery.

| Richard Cox - Stepwells: Subterranean Architecture in Western India |

An exhibition of digital photographs and drawings by Richard Cox. Stepwells have been built in India for over a thousand years, they not only provided water and irrigation, they also gave cool shelter and a place to meet and rest on long journeys. Their multiple functions included entertainment, recreational bathing, and places to cleanse following a funeral ceremony. Water is regarded as a holy element whose ultimate source is the Ganges, one of the many reasons why water architecture in India is so unusual and important.
