Café Manager

Hours: 30 per week. Salary: £8.40 per hour + Benefits 

Assistant Café Manager

Hours: 26 per week. Salary: National Living Wage + Benefits 

Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre is looking for two new members of staff who are engaging, confident and customer-focused.

We're looking for a Café Manager to be hands on in the day to day of running the café but also to be the main driver in the behind-the-scenes work that makes a café successful. You’ll be proactive and creative and be responsible for a small team of part time staff expected to achieve high standards of service and customer care at all times. You will have the support and expertise of LGAC staff to draw upon when needed.

The Assistant Café Manager will support the Café Manager in the day to day running of the Oriel café and deputise for them in their absence.

The Oriel Café has a lovely relaxed feel and regular customers who contribute to the unique atmosphere of Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre. These are varied roles that will deliver a great learning experience. You’ll need to provide the very highest level of customer service and create an atmosphere where people want to return again and again! The roles are fixed term contract with a possibility of them extending. LGAC is currently conducting a café review and the successful applicant will have an opportunity to have an input in the future direction of the café and the role of the café within LGAC.

Oriel Café is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am – 4.00pm. The successful applicant will be required to work Saturdays but the shifts patterns and hours will be need to be agreed. Some shifts are kitchen based and others are front of house. We are, ideally, looking for the applicants to start as soon as possible. 

Experience of working in or running a small catering operation or café are essential for both roles.

Volunteers

As a registered charity LGAC is always on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers who may be able to contribute one or more days a week to the centre. For suitable candidates there are a number of roles which we have to offer including:

  • Assisting with workshops

  • Gallery assistant helping set up and dismantle exhibitions

  • Cafe assistant - learning and contributing towards the running of the cafe

  • Gardening support - helping tend our extensive grounds and lawns

  • General DIY in and around the building

  • Other administrative and marketing roles
