Explore Mark Making
You can use any materials you have at home to explore mark making. They can of course be traditional art materials like pens, pencils, and paints. However, it is also fun to experiment with different and unconventional materials for example you can swap your paintbrush with twigs and natural forms from outside, an old toothbrush, scrunched up newspaper or instead of using paints food dye works just as well. Feel free to layer up your marks, let colours merge together and clash your patterns. There is no right or wrong and you can end up with an interesting and expressive piece of abstract art or a great addition to your sketchbook.
