We Are Open Again
01 September 2020 until 22 September 2020
After being closed for six months, Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre in Cwmbran is re-opening to the public, following the coronavirus pandemic with new social distancing measures and a new exhibition, We Are Open Again.
We Are Open Again is made up of works collected, donated and bequeathed to Llantarnam Grange Art Centre over it’s 54 year existence, and features celebrated artists alongside lesser known local champions.
The lockdown has forced a reassessment of what is important in life, and the personal liberties and privileges taken for granted have never been more apparent. In the spirit of re-discovering our creative selves in lockdown, Llantarnam Grange are bringing out work from the archive that celebrates creativity, and the need for it in our lives.
A highlight in the show is work from Ernest Zobole, influential painter and art teacher from the Rhondda and founding member of the 56 Group. Works by award winning photographic artist, Toril Brancher, as well as works by Jack Crabtree, famed for his works of the south Wales coal industry make up some of the names in this show of art work from the 20th and 21st Century. Jointly curated by Exhibitions Assistant, Savanna Dumelow and Director, Louise Jones-Williams.
